Tiny City Makers
A social enterprise project of A Better Tent City
Tiny City Makers is an arts-therapy program for residents of A Better Tent City. All proceeds from the sale of products created during the arts programming goes towards materials for future programs, as well as paying the residents and facilitators for their time.
Workshop #1
Date: October 2024
Facilitator: The Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery
Project: Handcrafted Holiday Ornaments
Medium: Glass
Participants: 16 residents
Residents of A Better Tent City participated in a ‘Glasstime’ workshop facilitated by The Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery. The instructor gave a brief lesson on fused class and residents got creative with colour and texture to create a unique Christmas ornament. All items were kiln fired after the workshop by their team of studio technicians.

Project: Handcrafted Holiday Ornaments

Participants: 10 residents
Residents of A Better Tent City participated in a ‘Claytime’ workshop facilitated by The Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery. The instructor demonstrated basic handbuilding techniques and showed us how to combine simple forms with sculptural elements to create fun and decorative clay ornaments! All items were kiln fired after the workshop by their team of studio technicians.
Workshop #3
Date: November 2024
Facilitator: Zoe Miller and Hope Krempa
Project: Holiday Card Designs
Medium: Hand-carved stamps and ink
Participants: 10 residents
Residents of A Better Tent City participated in a holiday card design workshop where they produced hand-drawn designs as well as stamp patterns for the cover of holiday cards. A total of 50 unique cards were produced to be sold as unique one-of-a-kind cards, with 4 selected to be replicated and printed onto holiday cards to be sold as a set.

We are always looking for new artist facilitators to join our roster. Are you a screen-printing aficionado? A talented potter? A watercolour whiz? We want to hear from you!
The process: Once you fill out the form below, one of our team members will contact you via phone or email to discuss your proposed workshop in more detail. We will discuss mutual fit, share a bit more about the ABTC community, answer any questions you may have, discuss possible workshop dates, the supplies and materials needed, and more.
What you receive in return: Honouraria for your time, ~$200 budget for supplies and materials, promotion of your personal brand or small business through our social media and website, cross promotion of your personal brand or small business on all merchandising materials, a space to share your talents while directly and positively impacting the lives of ABTC residents.
